New Student FAQ:

What dances do you teach?

We specialize in partner dancing, however we also have many solo dance classes too! Our classes include West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Salsa, Argentine Tango, Ballroom, Latin, Line Dance, Two-Step, Ballet, Contemporary, Shuffle, Brazilian Zouk, and Hip-Hop.

Do you have beginner classes?

Yes! We have a crash course designed for your very first dance experience as well as complete tracks in level 1, 2, 3 & 4 to make your journey easy. All you have to do is show up!

What if I don't have a partner?

No problem! Most of our students don't have designated partners. We rotate partners during class to make sure everyone gets to practice. However if you feel more comfortable with someone you know that's okay too!

Can I come in and try a class?

Absolutely! We offer everyone one free class. Give us a call or fill out our sign-up form so we can talk to you about our special opportunities and trials!

How many times a week do classes meet?

Each dance style and track level varies. For example, our swing classes occur twice weekly, however salsa is only one day per week. Check out our schedule for more details.

Is there a registration fee?

No! We operate with "Fast Passes" with either 5 or 10 classes. Once purchased these passes are valid for a full year!

What shoes should I wear?

We don't expect you to invest in dance shoes as a beginner. Select shoes that have flat bottoms (no high heels), with a smooth bottom for turning and be sure they will stay on your foot without slipping off your heel. TOMS, flats, or smooth tennis shoes work great.

What clothing should I wear?

Casual clothing that is flexible and breathable. Some students wear leggings or sweatpants whereas some wear shorts or skirts and some even wear jeans. At District Dance Academy we don't judge a book by its cover, so feel free to come as you are!
